The Homey Awards Ceremony
The Homey Awards Ceremony
The Homey Awards were originally started as a tongue-in-cheek form of counter-programming to the Grammy Awards, which always run on Sunday nights while WSTW’s Hometown Heroes is on the air. Now in its 8th year, the Homey Awards have evolved into a legitimate means of recognizing the achievements of the many talented musicians in the Delaware Valley through a combination of nomination by popular vote and the consensus of a voting panel, which comprises past Homey winners and members of the local music community. Hometown Heroes is very excited to be hosting the second annual live awards show this year for the best of 2013, with performances by some of the artists that won Homey Awards for 2012. It's going to be a big night! Presented by Hometown Heroes WSTW and Gable Music Ventures.

Angela Sheik
Angela Sheik
BOSS US National Loop Champion Angela Sheik is a fierce vocal- and multi-instrumentalist who wows audiences with her fast effects pedal footwork and mischievous smile. She builds her own virtual backup band using rhythmic harmonies, beatbox rhythms, a looper pedal, and a collection of unusual instruments (including autoharp, theremin, and flute). This, combined with soulful, memorable, gut-felt melodies, blends into an electronic-infused, folk-pop style reminiscent of Imogen Heap.

Angela has independently released three albums and toured the US and Europe. She has opened for The Neon Trees, Julia Holter, Tim Fite, Sharon Little, and Terra Naomi. She received a standing ovation while opening for bass legend Meshell Ndegeocello. In the words of Tristate Indie Magazine, “I was blown away by the Angela Sheik experience, and I'm still recovering.”

In her free time, Angela enjoys snowboarding, making omelets, thrift store fashion, and singing duets with her miniature greyhound, Blitzen.
