Roy Richardson
Roy Richardson
Roy Richardson began his professional career back in the 80's with a reggae band as well as a local New Jersey R&B band called the Plex Band for a number of years. Roy took breaks from the band so he could travel internationally on tour with "Queen Esther Marrow and the Harlem Gospel Singers" from 1996 - 2000 as a singer, saxophonist, percussionist and flautist. He then went on tour with the national Broadway production tour of "The Civil War" starring Be Be Winans, Larry Gatlin and John Schneider (from Smallville). In this show he was an actor/musician/dancer (that's right, he dances too) and understudy for the lead and other roles. Highlights of his career include performing at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 1998 and at the Vatican for the Pope in 1996. He was recently featured on Leon Huff's (of Philly International Records) latest project called "Groovy People" and he has performed with the greats like the late Woody Shaw, Charles Earland, Jimmy McGriff, Narada Michael Waldon, Norman Connors, Mitchell Jones & Marcus Cole, (of the Gospel group called "Commissioned"), Franklin "Bubby" Fann and Christopher Lewis just to name a few. He has worked on many other recording projects and is one of the most sought after musicians in the greater Philadelphia tri-state area.
